MetroHealth reports data breach for 981 heart patients due to malware

Cleveland Plain Dealer - (Ohio) Cleveland-based MetroHealth System notified 981 patients May 15 who received heart catheterization procedures at the hospital that their protected health information may have been breached after malware was discovered on 3 computers in the hospital's Cardiac Cath Lab. An investigation determined that a business associate disabled antivirus software on the computers during an update, and the hospital announced that it removed the malware and backdoor access.
