Health information for more than 1,700 Holston Valley Medical Center patients found in recycling bin

WYMT 57 Hazard - (Tennessee) Wellmont Health Systems officials reported April 30 that the protected health information of 1,726 Holston Valley Medical Center patients were found in a recycling bin at Steel Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee, March 1. The information contained notes created by a former nurse who provided care for patients between 1998 and 2007, and authorities do not believe any personal information was compromised.
