Self Regional announces security breach of patient info

Greenwood Index-Journal - (South Carolina) Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood notified at least 500 patients July 24 of a potential security breach after two thieves broke into the Support Services Center May 25 and took a hospital-owned laptop. Police arrested and charged two men June 10 in connection with the theft where one of the suspects admitted to panicking and throwing the password protected laptop into Lake Thurmond.
