Honeypot catches malware exploiting Shellshock Bash bug

2014/09/26

Softpedia - (International) Alien Vault researchers found two pieces of malware through their honeypots, an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) bot and an Executable and Linkable Format (ELF) binary that offers malicious actors the possibility to use the infected machine in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks in order to exploit the Shellshock Bash vulnerability. Patches are available for several software platforms as attackers are rapidly working to exploit the CVE-2014-6271 vulnerability.
