BlackEnergy malware linked to targeted attacks

2014/09/25

Securityweek - (International) ESET and F-Secure researchers found that the BlackEnergy malware has been active in targeted attacks in 2014, modified to be used as a tool for sending spam and for online bank fraud. The alteration was dubbed "BlackEnergyLite" by researchers due to the lack of a kernel-mode driver component and less support for plug-ins and a lighter overall footprint.
