Description

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are running a Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)-based computer that has two network adapters installed.
  • You enable the Internet Connection Sharing feature, and then you configure the computer as a Connection Sharing host.
  • You connect another computer to the Connection Sharing network. This computer functions as a Connection Sharing client.
  • Note In this Connection Sharing network, one network adapter on the host computer is connected to the Internet, and the other network adapter is connected to a local area network (LAN).

  • You disable and then re-enable the LAN-side network adapter on the host computer.
  • In this scenario, the Connection Sharing client computer cannot access the Internet through the Connection Sharing network. If you try to use a tool such as Nslookup.exe to resolve the domain name on the client computer, the operation is unsuccessful. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
    DNS server is not responding.

This update should be installed to resolve this issue with Windows XP.
