Description

Consider the following scenario:

  • A computer is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • The computer is running under a heavy load.
  • You try to access shared files or shared printers from the computer by using the Server Message Block (SMB) v1 protocol.
  • In this scenario, you cannot access shared files or shared printers. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

  • Specified network name is no longer available.
  • This issue occurs because of a race condition in the Mrxsmb10.sys driver.

    This update should be installed to resolve this issue with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
